Employee Spotlight: Amber McGaughey

As one of Carpe Data’s Customer Success Coordinators, Amber is crucial in helping our clients get the best out of our services. With almost eight years at Carpe Data, Amber McGaughey has evolved and grown alongside the company, and holds an impressive amount of institutional knowledge. Although she’s had an illustrious career in competitive cheerleading, it’s when Amber gets off the sidelines and into the game that she really shines. Amber is a true powerhouse, whether she’s on the softball field or getting the team rallied for battle, and she also brings that energy and spirit to her role.

What is your current role and what are you responsible for?

My current role at Carpe Data is Customer Success Coordinator. I’m responsible for managing accounts in the U.S., and just took on the role of handling our international accounts. Generally, I provide our clients with monthly stats and projected outlooks, as well as assisting in day-to-day tasks.

What other roles have you held at Carpe Data?

I’ve been with the company since 2012 (with one year off traveling in 2017), so I’ve held a few different, but very similar, roles. When I very first started with Social Intelligence, before the split to Carpe Data, I was a Social Media Analyst. I transitioned into the role of Customer Service Associate then Account Manager.

What keeps you coming back to work at Carpe Data?

We are a family here at Carpe Data! We work hard and support each other in reaching our personal and professional goals. The camaraderie is genuine and makes you want to keep coming back for more.

Can you tell us about a career highlight at Carpe Data?

One thing that I enjoy looking back on is the number of successful projects that I’ve worked on with our clients. After our team works tirelessly on big projects, seeing the ROI is truly gratifying, and it shows how our efforts are helping our customers succeed. I also love traveling, so visiting different organizations for in-person client meetings is another continuous highlight for me!

What makes you proud to be a Carpe Data team member?

There are too many reasons to count! A recent example was our transition to remote work during quarantine; our team adapted to online collaboration without missing a beat, and that shows a lot about the team’s trust in management and vice versa. We’re passionate about our work and we love to show it. When the team hits a huge milestone, we know how to celebrate accordingly.

What did you do before joining Carpe Data?

Before Carpe Data I worked at an athletic club as a Group Fitness Instructor and Membership Representative. Once upon a time, I was interested in becoming a personal trainer. I realized that wasn’t for me when I joined the Carpe Data team! Many of my coworkers probably don’t know that I have been a cheer coach and choreographer. Cheer has always been a big part of my life, and I was fortunate enough to coach and work at Carpe Data for a few years. I still choreograph occasionally, so if anyone is looking for a competition-ready number, you know where to find me!

What are you looking forward to accomplishing at Carpe Data?

In my role, communication is key. It’s my goal to hone those skills at Carpe Data so I can further enable the clients I manage to succeed—and improve our relationships in the process! I strive to provide all that I can for our clients and ensure a successful return on their investment.

What advice do you have for new members of the Carpe Data team?

Here’s my advice for incoming team members—never be afraid to ask questions, aim to be dependable, and don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
