Software Developer

As a Software Developer for Carpe Data, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and support innovative software solutions with a small and agile team utilizing a broad range of technologies. Projects will include SaaS development, internal software maintenance, and creative technical input. The candidate will work directly with both the VP of Technology and CEO (who was deemed one of Insurance Tech’s “Top Ten Innovators of the Decade”). Our tight-knit technology team is comprised of 7 members, including a data scientist and QA team, enabling the candidate to have a significant role in driving the company forward.


  • - Develop and maintain a PHP based web application following W3C, MVC, and industry standard conventions
  • - Build real-time data interfaces using REST,AJAX, XML, JSON and custom formats
  • - Work with large datasets to identify and analyze both structured and unstructured data
  • - Perform local testing and work with QA team to resolve issues
  • - Test sites across multiple browsers on PC and Mac platforms
  • - Create and maintain database tables, ad-hoc queries,and general tuning


  • - Fluency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, AJAX, JSON, XML
  • - Experience with SQL and NoSQL queries, relational database design.
  • - Application uses - MySQL and PostgreSQL databases.
  • - Experience with GIT or other code repository
  • - Python is not necessary but a plus
  • - Experience with Amazon Web Services ( EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, RDS, SQS) a plus

  • - Experience utilizing third-party APIs including real-time data streams
  • - Server and client tracing/debugging skills

Annual salary will be based on experience, and will include health and dental insurance, stock options, etc.
