Insurance Data Product Analyst

Who we are

What we are looking for

The Product Analyst role is primarily responsible for analysis of data needs for various insurance use cases, including understanding data use in specific contexts. This role includes creating a market-cycle cadence working with both internal teams and external development or customer partners.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • - Supports Carpe Data’s Product Tollgate Process and key product initiatives with high quality analysis and actionable recommendations.
  • - Analyze customer needs, competitive intelligence and market information to validate, expand and/or generate new data support product portfolio at various stages in the product lifecycle.
  • - Interview stakeholders to elicit data use case requirements.
  • - Construct business and technical requirements and execution during development.
  • - Prepare specifications for the product development team. The specifications describe the target market for the data.
  • - Partner with product development team to implement, optimize data solutions’ quality and drive product improvements.
  • - Monitor the design and development of the product to ensure that it continues to meet the specification. If the development team encounters technical or cost problems, the Product Analyst may consider or recommend changes.
  • - Continuously gather information about customer needs, product usage and customer satisfaction.

Skills

  • - Bachelors in Business, MIS, CIS, math, statistics or other related field
  • - 1-5 years' experience in a business analysis, data analytics or product role
  • - Exposure to commercial insurance lines property and casualty insurance
  • - Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • - Strong communicator with strong relationship and interpersonal skills
  • - High energy, self-motivated
  • - Travel is required and may be up to 20%
  • - Must be in Hartford, CT

Skills

  • - Working knowledge of commercial lines property and casualty insurance, with specific focus on aspects of the policy lifecycle. Experience in claims, policy intake, or underwriting preferred

  • - Strong communicator with strong relationship and interpersonal skills
  • - High energy, self-motivated with strong leadership capabilities
  • - Travel is required and may be up to 20%

Software Engineer

What we are looking for

As a Software Engineer for Carpe Data, you will have the opportunity to design, develop, and support innovative software solutions with a small and agile team utilizing a broad range of technologies. Projects will include development of new and existing customer-facing API offerings, Big Data acquisition and distillation, SaaS development, Proof of Concept formation and technical/creative input. The candidate will work directly with both the VP of Engineering and CEO (deemed one of Insurance Tech’s “Top Ten Innovators of the Decade”). Our tight-knit technology team includes data scientists and a QA team, enabling the candidate to have a significant impact in driving the company forward.

We’re looking for a candidate who is excited to develop and implement new technologies, and who enjoys a fast-paced, fun, and collaborative team.

This position presents the opportunity to work in a critical role in a disruptive and fast-growing startup that just raised $6.6 million in Series A funding. There is no better time to join our growing team!

Responsibilities

  • - Develop and maintain a PHP based web application following W3C, MVC, and industry standard conventions
  • - Build real-time data interfaces with third party data providers and web services using REST, AJAX, XML, JSON and other custom formats
  • - Analyze large datasets to identify, parse, and extract structured and unstructured data
  • - Perform local testing and work with QA team to resolve issues
  • - Implement cross-browser compliant HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • - Create and maintain database tables, ad-hoc queries, and general tuning

Skills

  • - Fluency in PHP, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, AJAX, JSON, XML
  • - Experience with MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
  • - Experience with GIT or other code repository
  • - Experience utilizing third-party APIs including real-time data streams
  • - 3+ years of software development experience in a production environment

Nice To Have

  • - Experience with Amazon Web Services (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, RDS, SQS, S3)
  • - Python experience
  • - Developer operations experience
  • - Experience with PostgreSQL JSON/JSONB functions
  • - Experience with web scraping, web crawlers, web proxy, HTML parsing, DOM parsing, PhantomJS or other headless browser
