The Hartford Taps New Data Sources For Small Business Underwriting

Leading insurer for small commercial adds Carpe Data to provide even greater speed, accuracy and efficiency for agents processing small business applications.

HARTFORD, Conn., August 4, 2020 – The Hartford has partnered with Carpe Data, a leading provider of emerging and alternative data, to add new sources of data to its market-leading Small Commercial platform, which will help reduce small business application processing time.

“Carpe Data provides an opportunity to integrate even more data elements into our underwriting system,” said The Hartford’s Head of Small Commercial Underwriting Practices John Russo. “This partnership aligns with The Hartford’s history of building the best quoting process and of providing fast, accurate business intelligence to our agents.”

Carpe Data’s process will now be applied across small commercial to add even more power for small business underwriting by simplifying the application process for agents and eliminating underwriting questions.

“Carpe Data is excited to partner with one of the leading providers of small business insurance and to help them enhance their agent and customer experience,” said Max Drucker, CEO of Carpe Data.

The Hartford has been insuring small business owners for more than 200 years and was one of the first carriers to create a dedicated business unit for small commercial customers more than 30 years ago. The company, along with its agents, serves more than one million small business customers.
