What We Are Looking For

As a Talent Leader for Carpe Data, you will have the opportunity to design our recruiting function and professional development programs. You will be responsible for all aspects of recruiting and employee development. The candidate will report to the VP Finance and will work with stakeholders across the organization – gaining exposure to all the moving parts of a rapidly growing data company. The candidate will find themselves in a core role, working alongside all the departments in the company.

This position presents the opportunity to work in a critical role in a disruptive and fast-growing startup that recently raised $6.6 million in Series A funding. Candidates must be located in or willing to relocate to Santa Barbara, CA.


  • Work closely with managers to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company’s hiring needs for each position, and meet competitive hiring goals and expectations
  • Screen resumes and prospects, qualify, interview, and manage candidates throughout interview process
  • Manage the full recruitment life-cycle across a variety of open roles helping management find, hire, and retain quality talent
  • Grow and foster high-touch relationships with a database of qualified active and passive talent to pull from as new positions open up
  • Continuously partner with senior managers to design, refine, and implement innovative recruiting strategies
  • Stay active with current job boards, social networks, and platforms to find talent, and plan, create, and release job descriptions and announcements
  • Source active and passive candidates from online databases, contact lists, internal databases, job boards, and employee referrals
  • Provide pre-qualified candidates who are the best match for the assigned positions through active on-going candidate campaigns and pipelining
  • Maintain candidates statuses via applicant tracking system, data reports and performance metrics on a regular basis
  • Establish, manage and maintain university and user group relationships for top talent hiring
  • Manage the on-boarding process for all new hires
  • Process background screenings for new employees
  • Coordinating Quarterly and Annual review process
  • Design and manage employee development programs


  • 2+ years experience in recruitment and/or general human resources
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with job boards, candidate tracking systems, on-boarding software
  • Proven experience conducting various types of interviews (i.e. phone, video, etc.)
